The family opened a Milan studio on Via Arbe in April 2024 to plan residential projects, while the carving, gilding and marble work stays in the Casale di Scodosia workshop.
How long has Modenese Gastone worked on private homes?
Modenese Gastone has designed and furnished residential interiors since 1818, from Casale di Scodosia in the province of Padua. The family is now in its seventh generation; Gastone Modenese, who led the fourth, lived from 1924 to 2021. Homes are planned from the Milan studio and made in the Veneto workshop, then installed worldwide.
The work has stayed in one place. Rather than move production abroad, the family still carves, gilds and finishes in Casale di Scodosia, and coordinates each home from the Milan studio at Via Arbe 81, opened in April 2024. That keeps the craft in Veneto and the design conversation close to the family it is working for.

What has stayed the same across seven generations?
Three things have carried through the Modenese Gastone history since 1818: one Veneto workshop, an unbroken family line, and finishes still done by hand. Each is still visible in the homes the studio plans and furnishes today, from the carving on a headboard to the gilding on a light.

The family has passed the workshop down seven times. Gastone Modenese, who led the fourth generation, lived from 1924 to 2021; the seventh works there now.
Hand finishing
Carving, 24k gold-leaf gilding, painting, aging and beeswax finishing are still done by hand, the same methods listed on the home materials page.
